The 15th year old rum is today THE exceptional rum in Dzama Prestige range. It is a rum from all barrels of the year 1996, and therefore it is a vintage rum.
1996 is the year of the death of Lucien Fohine, and his son wanted to pay tribute to him by presenting this rum in a packaging, also exceptional: a magnificent carafe in a wooden box of great beauty.
It turns out that the rum on offer is also exceptional. Indeed, when the 1996 barrels were opened, in 2011, evaporation had removed more than half of the volumes. Two immediate consequences, one very favorable, which allows this rum to benefit from an extraordinary aromatic concentration, the other negative, which limits the availability of this rum to 4,000 bottles for the whole world, which makes it a rum extremely rare.

Nose
In the first place, we become aware of the influence of the barrels on the aging of this rum: it is indeed difficult to distinguish whether we are dealing with a rum or a whiskey. Notes of smoke, almost peat, but without bitterness, without aggressiveness, fill our nostrils.

Mouth
Very quickly the sweetness of the rum aromas will line our palate, and the endless length in the mouth will allow us to enjoy notes of coffee, chocolate, prune, but also spices, tobacco, apricot… ..

Final
The more time you take to taste this nectar, the more aromas will develop, endlessly one might say. In the empty glass, they will still continue to delight your senses. It is a real delight, a rum as we only have the opportunity to discover it exceptionally… ..
