With an ester content of between 200 and 400 grams per hectolitre of pure alcohol, this version falls into the LROK (Light Rum Owen Kelly) category of the Hampden distillery’s marks.
From its ageing in sherry casks, it has acquired a patina that recalls, in more than one way, that of certain Scottish single malts.
Complex, deep and very mature, its aromatic and taste palette invites us to discover Hampden in an unusual but oh so interesting autumnal guise. However, fans of this Jamaican rum can rest assured, the tasting is also punctuated by remarkable empyreumatic sequences.

Color:
Copper with greenish highlights.
Nose:
Ample, heady. Deliciously cocoa, licorice, balsamic (cedar), autumnal (dry leaf, lichen) and infused (thyme, laurel), the aromatic palette is radiant with freshness and complexity.
On aeration, citrus (orange, mandarin), apricot, sandalwood and shoe polish aromas give it a lot of nobility.
Palate:
Rich, dense. Full of verve, the taste palette takes us to ever more autumnal lands (porcini mushroom, truffle, chestnut). Then, a very pleasant herbaceous bitterness (gentian, mint) refreshes the taste buds at just the right time. Flavors of emery cloth and walnut husk complete this colorful picture.
Finish:
Long, gourmet. Amplifying the chocolatey character of the aromatic palette, the tasting becomes very gourmet (fondant, eclair). More and more powdery (cinnamon, rice, ginger), it continues by revealing flavors of raisins and dates.
Empyreumatic (diesel, fuel), the retro-olfaction affixes the Hampden signature.
